As a church we acknowledge:

  1. That all people at church have a right to feel and be safe, and to experience life-giving, harm-free interactions in our church and its activities.

  2. The need for sensitivity and consideration of all people of culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as any person with a disability and/or special need.

  3. The primary role of parents/caregivers in relation to children (0-18 years), as well as the role of children themselves in child protection, and will actively engage with children and parents/caregivers, inviting open communication and feedback as part of our procedures and interactions.

  4. The shared responsibility of the whole community, including parents/caregivers and our workers, for child safety and welfare.

2. The welfare of all people through using good governance practices, including:
  • Implementation of and regular review of policies and procedures.Codes of conduct for all church workers.
  • Adequate and appropriate insurance.
  • Clear reporting, investigation, and feedback processes.
  • Ongoing training for all board members and church workers.
  • Adhering to the ACC Child Protection Policy.A designated Safer Churches Officer.

The Safe Churches Helpline is available to all staff, volunteers and attendees of churches and other ministries throughout Australia. If you have any questions or concerns regarding a matter of safety we recommend in the first instance that you speak with a leader, pastor or the safer churches officer at our church.
